 Name Eoghain Johnson Age 21 University & Course Edinburgh University - Biological Sciences, 3rd year. Kayaking Experience A dab of sea kayaking before starting university and kayaking proper; 3 weeks in Norway to teach me the real meaning of the word fear and 2 weeks in the Alps to teach me the real meaning of a hangover sit upon a few seasons now of Scottish creeking. Last Swim? Err... the Etive - a solid grade 5 run with a 12 meter waterfall - just below the crack of DOOM after cockily announcing "I've never messed this one up; guess I'm just blessed" though to be fair the river was about 3 foot higher than anyones ever run it ever, err honest.... What are you most looking forward to about the Expedition? Besides exploring and boating with 8 awesome guys in a beautiful country; playing with Luke's hair, and pushing Ben over just before hard stuff. What do you think is going to be the biggest challenge on the Expedition? Crazy insects in the jungle and the unpredictability of the intensity of the rains... oh and flash floods. Any extra skills? Not really, I'm quite a "beige" person, so much of the time I'll just be making sure people don't forget me and leave me behind.  So why Vietnam & Laos? "love you long time..." (can I put that in?!) What makes this Expedition so Special? I think the standard of boating this year is gonna be immense; there's such varied experiences between the group - big water to steep creeks to huge multi-days that I think we're gonna be able to push it on whatever we find. But most importantly the banter between the group (verified after a mega team night out in Bangor) will keep us together when it gets tough. That and I love big volume drops; and Laos/Vietnam seem to be full of em!!! |
