![]() Name Ben McKeown (Token Canoeist!) Age 22 University & Course Edinburgh. Final year of a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Ecological science. Kayaking Experience Kayaking? I first got into an open-canoe about 14 years ago on Llyn Gwynant in my home valley in N.Wales. I have since paddled in Scotland, England, France, Italy, Austria, Slovenia, Norway, B.C. and Alaska. Favourite River? All rivers have something special, but I think if I could design and make my own perfect river to paddle, it would be very similar to the Brandsetelva in Norway. Last Swim? In a drop called ‘Boof or Die’ on the River Lochy, Scotland. I think my boat might still be in there somewhere… First boat? A Dagger Quake OC1. Still going strong and still my most favourite boat to paddle. What are you most looking forward to about the Expedition? After trudging to lectures through the cold wind and snow… I’m just keen for a bit of warmth. What do you think is going to be the biggest challenge on the Expedition? ‘….the horror.’ What makes this Expedition so Special? The geography and culture of SE Asia is different to any place I have paddled before. ![]() |
